The applied health sciences are a multidisciplinary field focused on improving health and quality of life. It encompasses various specialties that promote health, prevent illness, and support individuals in achieving optimal well-being across diverse populations. Professionals in applied health sciences regularly collaborate with nurses to offer diverse specialized services such as Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, Exercise Physiologists, Health Informatics Specialists, Rehabilitation Specialists, Public Health Educators, and others.
The IJNAHS aims to support evidence-informed policy and practice by publishing research, systematic reviews, Scoping reviews, critical discussions, and commentaries. The journal also seeks to advance scientific inquiry by publishing methodological, concept analysis, critical appraisal, and protocol papers. The journal particularly welcomes studies and articles that evaluate and enhance understanding of new and persistent problems in healthcare and public health, innovations, complex healthcare interventions, and health policies while employing scientific designs and methods appropriate for the research question of interest.
The journal was founded on the principles of prompt original double blind peer review, open access to science, and promoting science in developing and middle-income countries. The journal gives special visibility to works from settings such as the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa, East and Southeast Asia, South America, and other regions that are not adequately represented in nursing and health science scientific publications. The IJNAHS aims to be the preferred repository of scholarship in nursing and applied health sciences and a publisher of original peer-reviewed articles that guide change in nursing and applied health sciences.
